A disaster called Cantu
The inconstancy was the only constant thing for the Red October Cantu since he was bought by Russian billionaire Dmitry Gerasimenko, who always finish broke in the basketball business.
The last game against newly promoted Alma Trieste was – I hope – the last proof of the idiotic management of Cantu, former a Euroleague participant and a glory of Italian basketball, now reduced to a bankrupt team.
In the absence of experienced guard Tony Mitchell who chose to remain in the United States, Cantu was destroyed by Alma Trieste, but the most important aspect is yet to come: just 4 American players mattered for the team – they scored together 79 points from 82!
Again the only Italian who could score was Jonathan Tavernari: 3 points.
But the negative records continue for Cantu: all 5 Italians of the team and the American Shaheed Davis, who came from the bench had together an efficiency rate down to 0: an incredible -8!
Actually, those 6 players had almost 70 minutes on the court to score 3 points and to have a disastrous, negative value index! Is this the future of the Italian born players? Is this the solution for European basketball? Mercenary to fill the stats with dumb plays?
According to Sportando, Jonathan Tavernari is leaving already Cantu and he will sign in the 2nd league. So, it seems that everybody from the team will have to try to save himself from the drowning ship!
