Anadolu Efes – small team mentality
After 3 good quarters with the referees helping a lot Anadolu Efes to overcome Real Madrid, the Turkish team was almost safe entering the final stanza with 14 points advantage. But it seems not to be enough for a team who played last 10 minutes with a scared rabbit mentality and eventually lost the clash.
I wonder how such professional players like Dunston, Moerman, Larkin, Beaubois, Pleiss and co. can blow it this way. How to score just 8 points in the entire quarter, shaking like little girls in front of a team that you have dominated for 30 minutes. Real Madrid is a good team, one of the best in Europe but they are players, not monsters. And they can be defeated. But every week, teams with a provincial mentality like Anadolu Efes, Olimpia Milano or Zalgiris Kaunas cannot resist the 4th quarter.
This stupid complex of the small team has to be forgotten. You have to start the last quarter like tigers, pressing for every ball, wild, strong and giving no chance for the comeback. Or YOU will have no chance in front of your own weakness. It is not Real Madrid who won the game, it’s you who lost it without shame!
