Baskonia with an amazing comeback in Sankt-Petersburg

They did it again. Both of the teams. Zenit falling in a stupid way in the last stanza, while Baskonia proved character and strength to create a huge final run to win the game.

Entering the 4th quarter, the Russian team had the victory in their hand with a big margin of 14 points. Even in the last minutes they still had a comfortable margin but the visitors surprised them in a tremendous way. The Basques made a perfect last 2 minutes scoring “and-one” after “and-one” while defending like heroes.

Nobody would have believed the turn-around of the encounter when it looked that Zenit controlled the entire game.

Once again, the Russian squad proved that they are not yet the mature team able to manage the end of their encounters. The chemistry failed, solutions on both ends of the court were needed, bad inspiration, lack of defense all together led to this pathetic end of the game. On the other side, Baskonia showed a great team effort, good timing for the executions in the last quarter what brings them a well-deserved win.

Good teams are under no obligation to start well, but they will do anything possible to end well, stealing the victory against all odds You can lead by as many as 14 points and this is nothing if cannot maintain the rhythm in the last minutes of the encounter.
