BCL title contenders: AEK Athens
I was waiting for the last night results to write this article because I was sure that AEK will take the revenge on Hapoel Jerusalem for the game lost at home in the first round of the BCL.
The reigning champions started very slow the season and almost nobody has tought that they will be now on the top of the most difficult group C of Basketball Champions League. But the truth is that the Greek team find its rhythm. Can they win again the trophy? Because normally after you won a European cup your chances to repeat the story the next season are lower. Anyway, the roster is still stronger and they look like a title contender, together with Virtus Bologna, Hapoel Jerusalem, Iberostar Tenerife, Brose Bamberg or Murcia.
AEK have a good Greek core of players and some experienced foreigners like Jonas Maciulis, Vince Hunter and Howard Sant-Roos, Malcolm Griffin and so on, a combination which is giving the team a unique flavour. They have big chances for the playoff and Final4.
