Fenerbahce is needing the win against Bayern

In round 7 of Euroleague, Fenerbahce receive the visit of German giants Bayern Munich, in a very interesting match. Fenerbahce has a very bad start of the season, with 5 defeats in the first 6 games of the season. They desperately need a win here, but they have the chemistry to do so? Let’s see some stats about both teams.

Fenerbahce are in poor form right now, with only one win in the last 5 games and that comes in the last TBL round against Afyon Belediye 86-80. They had a very tough match against a weaker opponent and that shows us the fact that they have a lot of problems regarding their tactics and chemistry. But that match isn’t too important. We must look at last 3 games from Euroleague. They lost against Milano, Maccabi and in the last round, they suffered a shocking defeat against Zalgiris at home, 76-79. Outside De Colo, Sloukas and Derrick Williams, all the players played very bad, below their average stats. They need to focus more on shooting and to make an extra pass to find the open man. Nando De Colo scored 29 points in 31 minutes against Zalgiris, but in the TBL game, he scored only 9 points in 27 minutes with 3-10 shots made.

Bayern Munich last two Euroleague’s games were in contrast. First, they won against Real Madrid at home 95-86, after the big game from Greg Monroe, who finished with 18 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Also, from the bench, Koponen made a huge impact with 15 points in 15 minutes. But then, they travelled to Spain and met Baskonia. They were simply smashed with 93-60. Outside Monroe, who finished with another 18 points, all other Bayern’s players were very weak, scoring only 14 shots in 40 minutes. With those kinds of stats, they can’t beat any Euroleague teams, by far. They need to make some adjustments offensively, especially against a Fenerbahce team that is hungry and hurt.

In the end, I must say that Fenerbahce will win this game. They have a more powerful roster and I simply can’t see them losing another game, especially against Bayern, which is an easy opponent. They need to stop Greg Monroe, which is dominant in the paint and if they can do that the win is a simple formality.
