Iraklis to win vs. Keravnos
Champions League qualifiers will start tomorrow and one of the easiest game to predict is Iraklis – Keravnos. The Greek team won’t have any problem to advance to the final of the group, where they will meet the winner between Donar Groningen and Dnipro.
Iraklis cannot lose this game because:
- they have a larger rotation including foreigners and experienced home-grown players that cannot compare with the Cypriot squad
- The tournament is held in Cyprus, but the local team cannot count on their fans because the games will be played behind closed doors.
- Iraklis is playing away, but actually Cyprus is like the second home for the Greek teams because they have the same language, the same food and social habits and actually the visitors from Thessaloniki will feel very comfortable playing there
- This season Basketball Champions League has only 2 teams from Greece already in the groups: AEK Athens and Peristeri. There will be no Aris or PAOK, because of the economic crisis, so another team from Greece it will be more than normal to qualify for the regular season. Let’s not forget the huge fan base of the Greek basketball!
Even if the difference is big, there is no necessary a huge handicap. The Greek side will win without problems. They can do it by 15 or by 7 points, it will count the same. Maybe they will save some effort against Keravnos and maintain their energy for the next game that will bring them the ticket for the BasketballCL group stage.
