Chicago Bulls

  Chicago Bulls

Chicago Bulls, a team that will always be known as Michael Jordan’s team, was a dynasty back in the ‘90s, formed by players like Steve Kerr, Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman, Michael Jordan, all of these being under Phil Jackson’s hand. It all started when the Bulls drafted Jordan with their 3rd pick back in 1984. He immediately made an impact for them and averaged 28,2 PPG, 6,5 RPG, 5,9 APG and 2,4 steals per game, as a rookie… and it was only the beginning of what others are still calling, even nowadays, the greatest player to ever touch a basketball. After his historic start of his career, he kind of slowed down a little, averaging only 22,7 points per game in his second year, but that was not something to worry about for his franchise, as he went on and averaged at least 30 points per game for 7 consecutive years, having the pin point of them at 37,1, in his third year. Another key player was added in 1987, when they traded for Scottie Pippen from the Seattle SuperSonics, who was a rookie at that moment. After a few years of accommodation, the success was about to be a part of their career, as they won their first title in 1991, beating Magic’s Lakers with 4-1 overall. In the next season, they managed to win it again, this time against the Portland Traiblazers, in a nail biting series that ended in 6 games after Jordan took care of business in the last game. Now it was the real challenge for the Chicago Bulls as they tried to make a thing that not many did, the three-peat. In a Finals matchup against Charles Barkley’s Suns, they made history by beating them in 6 games aswell, and once again people around the league were wondering if this is the best team of all time, but little do they know. After Jordan confused everyone and took a break from professional basketball, joining the Minor League Baseball instead, he came back at full strength and made history again by winning 72 games in the regular season, beating the Lakers’ record of 69 set in the early ‘70s, and cementing themselves as maybe the greatest team ever. This time the roster looked a little bit different than the last time they won the title, having added Dennis Rodman from the San Antonio Spurs, a great rebounder, and the 1996 Sixth Man award winner, Toni Kukoc. As if this wasn’t enough for them, in the next year they did the repeat while they beat the Utah Jazz in 6 matches in a game where Steve Kerr had a crucial shot to win it all for them. Jordan’s legacy was about to be nailed as the greatest of all time when he did the impossible, winning another title and completing the three-peat once again.  Since then, the Bulls went to all kinds of rebuilding modes, and none of them worked, until they got another MVP in 2012, in Derrick Rose, the youngest to win the award. Unfortunately for them, Rose had a lot of problems with injuries and many of the people around the league thought that the injuries will end his career. He ended up being traded away from the team years later, followed up by the departure of Jimmy Butler. Currently they are again in a rebuilding mode, and with one or two great young additions, they can have some hopes for the play-offs in the next years.
