Lou Williams is having an amazing year

Along time, many basketball players said that one of the most important aspects of this sport is to know your role. For example, Dennis Rodman won some rings with Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen, and while he was never a scorer, he knew how to defend and how to be an efficient rebounder. Therefore, he was very appreciated and he was considered a big part of that Chicago Bulls team.

In today’s NBA I have a feeling that everybody wants to be in the spotlight and to score a lot of points. However, there is a player that knows his role, respects it, and has great success while doing it. He is Lou Williams, the 2-time NBA Sixth Man of the Year. Currently, he is in his second year playing with the Los Angeles Clippers, and he is having an amazing season. While coming off the bench, Sweet Lou is averaging 19.9 PPG, 5.3 APG, and 2.9 RPG. These are great numbers, so it is interesting that he doesn’t request to be in the starting lineup, preferring to come off as a sixth man.

Of course, he wants to win Sixth Man of the Year again and he has all the chances but I also think that he is a humble player. If we look at his stats this year, Lou has done some amazing things. Five days ago, in a game against Minnesota Timberwolves, Lou Williams came off the bench and scored 45 points something that has never been done before. More than that he had 5 games where he scored between 30 and 39 points, and 20 games where he scored between 20 and 29 points.

Also, Lou Williams is very efficient. He scores almost 43% of his shots and more than 37% of his three-point attempts. If we talk about free-throws, Williams is one of the best in the league. He currently has a percentage of 89.6% at the charity stripe, being one of the most clutch players in the NBA.

This season Lou Williams has been the second best player of the LA Clippers, after Tobias Harris, but now Harris has been traded to the Sixers. So, Williams became the leader of the team and the most important player and the Clippers should try to keep him. It will be amazing to see what Williams will do in the next games after the All-Star Break, as he is probably going to win The Sixth Man of the Year award for the second year in the row.
