Dallas Mavericks

Dallas Mavericks

Dallas Mavericks doesn’t have a vast history, especially in the 20th century. The team founded by Don Carter was making the playoffs sometimes in the ‘80s but they couldn’t get to the Western Conference Finals even if they had some pretty good players on their roster. They went through all kinds of rebuilding processes in the early ‘90s, and in 1994 they selected Jason Kidd with their second overall pick, a player which ended as an Hall of Famer. This move was seen as a sight of hope for the franchise, as Kidd averaged impressive numbers in his rookie year. But only a few years later, the team would trade him to the Phoenix Suns in a process that involved a lot of players. When Dirk Nowitzki came in 1998, everything was about to change, and for real this time, for the Mavs. They got Steve Nash later on and Dallas started to get some playoff appearances in the early 2000s. But, after some years in which they tried to make the Finals, having the potential, and failed to make it, Steve Nash chose to leave. Some years later, in 2011, Dirk Nowitzki made the impossible possible and he managed to win the first trophy in Dallas entire history, against a star studded team, the Miami Heat. This was, without a doubt, the highest peak in the Mavs history, and the main reason for that is Nowitzki, who alongside Steve Nash and Jason Kidd, will be a future Hall of Famer. In 2018 they got Luka Doncic from Europe, through the draft, and he is now seen as being the next superstar that will lead the Dallas franchise for years to come.
