Was Bartzokas the Khimki’s problem?

Khimki Moscow
BC Khimki Moscow was founded in 1997 and is considered one of the most important Russian club. Since its foundation, Khimki Moscow managed to win 4 trophies in total – 1 Russian Cup, 1 VTB United League and 2 EuroCups. As for their domestic league, they didn’t manage to win one, but they finished second 10 times in the last 13 years. It’s hard to compete against the Russian powerhouse CSKA Moscow, a team who has much more money than all of the other ones from Russia. Alexey Shved is playing for Khimki Moscow, a good player who played for a little time in the NBA, too. Even though they are more like a EuroCup level team, the Moscow based team participated in the EuroLeague for the first time in the 2009-10 season. After that, they played for two more seasons in the tournament. In 2012 they won the EuroCup and because of that they obtained a slot in the next year’s EuroLeague. In 2015 they managed to win it again so they qualified once again for the top-tier league, but unfortunately for the organization. Khimki didn’t managed to make too much noise in neither of those EuroLeague editions. The budget is, of course, one of the main reasons for not prospering in the strongest league in Europe.
