New Orleans Pelicans

New Orleans Pelicans

The 2002-03 season marked the first one for the Pelicans franchise. In their first season in the NBA they managed to get in the playoffs, but got beaten in the first round. The Pelicans didn’t really have a player to rely on until Chris Paul, a future Hall of Famer, came in the league in 2005. Despite of his incredible offensive skills, Paul helped them get to the playoffs only in three seasons, so, in 2011 he chose to leave them and join the Clippers instead. After his departure, the Anthony Davis era began in New Orleans. Although Davis is another perennial All Star and his ceiling is off the roof, the Pelicans never really seem to take advantage of superstar players, in the way that they couldn’t build a team around their main go-to guy, and because of that they remained with none of them. The team made the playoffs two times since drafting Anthony Davis, but they were coming off of a lower seed, so the Warriors took care of them every time.
