LeBron James suffered the biggest loss of his career
In the summer, LeBron James surprised many in this league when he decided to come for the first time in the Western Conference to play for the LA Lakers. As he and Magic Johnson said, by moving to California LeBron understood that he won’t be able to win like in the East and he was fine with that. In addition, the quadruple MVP signed for four years knowing that it was hard to have a shot for the title in his first year there.
Since then, a lot has happened. LA Lakers started the season badly but then they turned it around, as they began to build their team chemistry. However, in December, LeBron James got hurt and stayed out for more than a month. In that interval, the young guys that play under Luke Walton didn’t manage to play as expected and the lost many games. But still, nobody was panicking because we all knew that LeBron James was going to come back and everything will be fine. This didn’t happen because Anthony Davis requested to be traded from the New Orleans Pelicans and by doing this he created big drama around the league.
As expected, the Lakers went after Anthony Davis and Magic Johnson was willing to give 6 players and two picks in order to get the Pelicans’ superstar. The problem is that Dell Demps, the GM from New Orleans Pelicans, didn’t accept and by doing so he opened a Pandora Box in the Lakers organization. Young talents such as Ball, Kuzma, and Ingram began to be frustrated and to have a lack of focus and motivation, while veterans like Beasley, Stephenson, Rondo and McGee became furious at the coach Luke Walton. This destroyed all the chemistry that was built until now and raised an unthinkable question: “Was it actually a good move bringing LeBron James to the Lakers?”.
The Lakers played last night against the Indiana Pacers and they lost by 42 points. 42 points. It is the biggest loss in LeBron’s career and I’m sure that he doesn’t like it. The team played really bad, nobody was willing to help the other, and the energy was nothing like in the past. Also, there is a picture with the Lakers reserves and while everybody was staying closer to the half of the court, LeBron James stayed by himself at the end of the bench. It is clear that all the talks in the media about the trade with Anthony Davis had a big impact on the players that were mentioned in the discussions.
However, last night, Brad Turner reported that the Lakers are not going after Anthony Davis anymore as they considered the requests “outrageous”. Maybe if the talks disappear, LeBron James will be able to make peace with his younger teammates and to win their trust again but until then it will be a tough and of the season. The other solution is for the Lakers to get the trade done and then just go with the flow. But until then, the young guys that play for the Lakers deserve to be respected and to know the truth.
