Steph Curry

  Steph Curry

Steph Curry was drafted in 2009 by the Warriors with their 7th overall pick. He didn’t have too many expectations coming out of college, as some of the analysts around the league thought that he is too small to guard or to have a shot in offense. Steph took that as a motivation, and even if the Warriors didn’t manage to get in the postseason in his first three seasons, the best was yet to come for him and the franchise. Although he didn’t win the Rookie of the Year Award, he was selected in the All-Rookie team by the end of the season, averaging 17,5 PPG, 4,5 RPG, 5,9 APG and 1,9 steals-per-game on 46% field-goal-percentage. In 2013 they were eliminated by the heavy-weighted Spurs in the second round, and, after that, in 2014, it was even worse, as they were beaten by the Los Angeles Clippers in the first round. A lot of concerning was going around the Warriors organization after that season, and people around the league were questioning Curry’s abilities to lead a team. Little did they know what was about to come in the next years. Golden State Warriors were about to become a dynasty. It all started in the 2014-15 season, when Curry won his first MVP award and they first got to the NBA Finals, beating LeBron’s Cavaliers in six matches. Right after that season, Curry won the Scoring Title and the MVP again, this time with an unanimous decision for the first time in league’s history. The Warriors also made history by winning 73 games in the regular season, beating the previous one of 72 held by Jordan’s Bulls. That was the time when people started to think if that was the best team in the entire NBA history. But, unfortunately for Curry and the Warriors, they kind of made history once again, in the Finals that year, but that time it was on the negative side for them, as they managed to loose the Finals after being up 3-1 against the Cavaliers. No team lost after being up 3-1 in history. It was a very tough loss for them, but given the fact that Kevin Durant joined them right in that summer, it’s safe to say that they got past that unhappy incident. Steph added two more rings to his legacy, tying LeBron’s three in total. Currently, he is on the verge to make history one more time if the Warriors win the “three-peat”.
