The reasons for choosing Valencia Basket over Real Madrid
My prediction on the Premium Telegram channel was Valencia Basket to win with -1.5 (odd 1.95) and -2.5 (odd 2.05) handicap against Real Madrid. Why I have chosen this game? Here you have my reasons:
Real Madrid accumulated too many injuries. They had out Sergio Lull, Nicolas Laprovitolla and Antonio Abalde – practically all the guards, while Anthony Randolph and Trey Thompinks are long term missings. Let’s not forget about Facundo Campazzo and Gabriel Deck that left Los Blancos for the NBA. Last but not least, Rudy Fernandez and Usman Garuba injured and couldn’t finish the first game of the semifinals in Madrid. So the roaster was decimated.
At the same time, Valencia Basket is a top team. Even if they didn’t make the Euroleague playoff, they had a deep roster with 11 excellent guys, experienced and between them are some protagonist of the title won back in 2017. The chemistry is great and the rotation very good.
Not many of you remember that Valencia smashed Real Madrid in the Euroleague both times. First in Madrid in autumn when Randolph, Thompinks, Campazzo, Llull and Deck were still playing. The result was shocking a 93-77 for the visitors and was the first sign that Valencia Basket can do great games.
I think this season Valencia Basket has their greatest roster in the last decade, while Real Madrid is since last years in a transition, with some old players plagued with injuries. Los Blancos will need to rebuild the team in the near future because this roster doesn’t work in order to achieve trophies.
