When the people are coming in contact with a professional basketball bettor they are fascinated by the possibility to make the same amount of money as he does. When these people start talking to me, normally they ask these 3 dumb questions that prove the fact they have no idea about the betting universe.
Question no. 1:
How much money do you make per month?
The normal people imagine that you make from betting something like a salary, let’s say 3500 euros per month. They don’t understand that there are MONTHS and months. There are months when you bet only a couple of games or almost none because there are not trusty competitions and moments when you make 9000 euros in a single day when Anadolu Efes beat Fenerbahce in the semifinals of the Euroleague 2019 at odd 2.80 to give you an example.
Question no. 2:
What is your rate of winning?
If I would tell you 50% or 60% or 40%, what do you’ll understand from that? 40% at huge odd like 3.75, 4.60, 7.00 is more than gold. Then again rate of winning in my case includes as well a good cash out or betting on the opposite team. So if I choose team A at odd 3.75 and then the odds dropped at 1.80 and even more in the first quarter the odds dropped at 1.35 I considered a won bet, no matter what will happen at the end of the encounter. I had the possibility to make good cash out or to assure my net placing money on team B as well. It’s not the same a winning rate of 80% at odds of 1.23.
Question no. 3:
What game do you bet today or this week?
As I said before, the professional bettor is under no obligation to bet every day. He is reading all the news, analyzing teams every day etc. but he doesn’t have to bet every day, not even every week. If there are no worthy games, stay quiet, keep the money in the pocket, don’t waste it.
