Olympiacos will have a difficult game at CSKA
What had to be an extraordinary derby between two Euroleague powerhouses, actually will be an easy game for CSKA Moscow. Last week, Olympiacos Piraeus was destroyed at home by Baskonia and there was the main reason: many absent players with injuries and Covid for the Greek side. Only 3 foreigners were playing, while Sasha Vezenkov was as well sidelined.
Yesterday Olympiacos had a friendly game against Kolossos Rhodes when again they used only 3 foreigners. Vezenkov was back for the Reds but anyway, the roster is shorter. They won easily with Kolossos, but CSKA is not easy to beat in Moscow. The Russian has one of the largest rotation in Europe, experienced players and chemistry hard to break.
In the same time, Olympiacos is far from being what they were a couple of years ago when they won back-to-back titles in Euroleague, playing as well another 3 finals. Vassilis Spanoulis and Georgios Printezis are coming soon to the end of their amazing career. They have experience but the age is saying its word. Between the Greeks that are coming from the bench, nobody had their talent and that’s why Olympiacos is in a difficult situation every game when they try to escape with a narrow win. The Greeks have a small chance to reach the Euroleague playoff since the import players are as well only decent Eurocup players, not Euroleague level.
