What are Brose Bamberg chances to enter BCL Final 4?
One of the closest battles in the quarterfinals of the Basketball Champions League is between AEK Athens and Brose Bamberg. Two extraordinary teams, the reigning champions of the competition and the ex-Euroleague team are fighting for a spot in the Final 4. I am sure that many people credit the Greek team with the qualification but let’s take a deeper look at the encounter:
- Brose Bamberg has one of the best backcourts in Europe made by 3 former Euroleague champions: Tyrese Rice, Ricky Hickman and Nikos Zizis
- key-player Elias Harris didn’t play for Brose in the first leg of the quarterfinals in Bamberg, but he will be on the court in Athens to face AEK
- the American trio of Augustine Rubit, Cliff Alexander and Bryce Taylor can be very dangerous in and out of the paint. They are very experienced players
- Jonas Maciulis is out with injury and this will give fewer options for the AEK. Their actual roster is short and cannot to be compared with the last year’s one.
That’s why I think that Brose Bamberg has a strong chance to overcome AEK Athens and qualify to the Final 4. They have 4 points advantage from the 1st leg, but it won’t be a surprise if they will win as well in Greece.
