After winning the Euroleague title with CSKA, Sergio Rodriguez will definitely return to Spain. The ex-NBA guard had many options and the first one was Unicaja Malaga. But the only problem is Malaga will compete just in Eurocup next season and I think this level cannot fit with Rodriguez huge value. He is a top player in the Euroleague where he can write another page of history the next couple of seasons.
If Rodriguez chooses a Spanish Euroleague team like Valencia Basket or Real Madrid who are now the front runners for him, El Chacho can enter easily the top 10 all-time scorers in the main European competition. The Spaniard is already in the top 5 on total assists and sharing the 8th spot together with J. R. Holden (ex CSKA) on 3 points shots made in Euroleague history. In order to reach better numbers all-time, Sergio Rodriguez has to stay in the Euroleague.
The comeback to Real Madrid, his former team can be done just in the case of Facundo Campazzo’s departure to the NBA, that’s why Valencia has the best chance to sign El Chacho. And I am sure in Valencia, Rodriguez can be a true leader for the youngest players, taking the game on another level.
