Will the Efes’ players recovered from Coronavirus be 100% ready against Zenit?
That’s the main question before the game between the Turkish powerhouse and the Russian team. Because we all heard the news that some of the Anadolu Efes foreigners were diagnosed with Covid-19, but no sure names and no details about their evolution. Shane Larkin and Rodrigue Beaubois seem to be 2 of them. You can guess some names only by watching the preseason games of the Efes where some players didn’t show at all.
Till the game time, it will remain an enigma how they recovered and if they are at their full potential which I doubt a lot because this disease is reducing your training possibilities, especially when you have to stay in quarantine. There are weeks lost from this point of view and the players need more practice to come back in shape.
On the other side, Zenit Sankt-Petersburg doesn’t look bad at all this year. Xavi Pascual has a talented and motivated roster that can surprise many opponents. Currently, after 3 rounds, they are leading the VTB League with 3 victories while the other Russian Euroleague teams CSKA and Khimki lost already.
Zenit is an ambitious project and this year they aim for the Euroleague playoffs. They proved already their quality smashing Khimki in Moscow in the opener of VTB League. If Anadolu Efes won’t have all their players available or they will be in bad physical shape, it could be a tough game for them. Zenit is considered a huge underdog (odds on them were around 4.50), but they can turn the tables.
