Analyzing odds: CSKA – Maccabi
For many, the result of the yesterday Euroleague game between CSKA Moscow and Maccabi Tel-Aviv was highly unexpected. The odds were so disproportionate, a fact that influenced the people to accept them. For instance, on some betting websites at the game time, CSKA was the big favourite with 1.09 and Maccabi had 8.00.
This is exactly the situation when you have to bet on the underdog. Why? Because of this:
- CSKA is in a bad shape, they have lost know 5 from the last 10 games including against Buducnost
- Maccabi are not so bad as the stats shows
- The odds were huge and unreal on Maccabi. For a Euroleague derby, the odd 8.00 had to be taken. Maybe Maccabi is not a very good team this season, but they are not Gran Canaria, Dacka or Buducnost. The real odds on them at CSKA had to be 3.00
- When the odd is huge on the other team, your motivation to win is higher because you feel that you are disrespected.
