Bayern – embarrassing at rebound
In a previous analysis published on this website, I tried to open the eyes of Bayern management about the total absence from their roster of any real center. Even if they ignore the reality, the stats don’t lie.
In the yesterday game, against Maccabi Tel-Aviv, this hurting truth came out. After the 1st quarter, the Israeli powerhouse overcame Bayern with 14-2 at rebounds, and at the break time, the huge difference was already build: Maccabi has 27 total rebounds and Bayern just 5. And even if you cannot entirely believe it this 5 rebounds made by Bayern in 20 minutes are the same 5 that Maccabi made already in the first 2 minutes of the game!
At the final whistle, the things looked a bit better, Maccabi grabbed the ball 43 times and Bayern 21. But if you look deeper, you could see that Maccabi had 20 offensive rebounds that are almost equal with the total numbers of Bayern’s rebounds. And there you have the key to the final result: Maccabi smashed the Munich squad with 95-71.
