Antwerp Giants

  Antwerp Giants

Antwerp Giants is a team from Belgium that plays annually in the Basketball Champions League or the FIBA Europe Cup. Although they are not quite a force, neither in their domestic nor in Europe, throughout time they managed to get six trophies in total. They have won the Belgian League one time, in the 1999-00 season, the Belgian Cup three times, in 1999-00, 2006-07 and 2018-19 and the Belgian Supercup in 2007 and 2016. Roel Moors is the only player that has his jersey retired by the organization. The Belgian played for Antwerp between 2000-2002 and 2009-2015. One of the Giants’ best achievements in the European leagues is a Quarterfinal, obtained in FIBA Europe Cup in the 2015-16 season. Other than that, they are struggling to find a rhythm in both their domestic and the European leagues. Lately, in 2019, Antwerp became the first Belgian team to be in the Basketball Champions League Final Four, this marking the highest peak of the organization internationally. The Final Four tournament will also be hosted by the city of Antwerp, for the first time in league’s history.
