NBA Playoffs

  NBA Playoffs

NBA Playoffs begin every year at the start of the month of April. The Playoffs are separated in two: the Eastern Conference and the Western Conference. In each of those, the 8 best seeded teams are attending to the post-season, in a best-of-seven games system. Furthermore, the 1st seed is playing with the 8th, 2 with 7, 3 with 6 and so on. Every time, the team that has the better record will have the home court advantage. The series are being played 2-2-1-1-1. There are 4 stages in total, 3 in each Conference, named the First Round, Second Round or the Semifinals, Third Round or the Eastern/ Western Conference Finals, and then the ultimate stage that represents the NBA Finals, where the best teams from each of those conferences are battling with one another for the NBA Championship. The NBA Commissioner is thinking at a format of the playoffs in the future that will bring the best 16 teams from all-around the NBA, no matter the Conference that they are playing in – the 16 best record teams will play in a tournament, even if there are, for example, 10 teams from the West and only 6 from the East. This format intends to bring up the competitiveness nature of the league, as many of the people around the league were saying that the East last playoff places are much weaker than those from the West, even weaker than teams who finished on the 9th, 10th or 11th  seed. It will be interesting to see if this project will actually develop into reality and how it will be seen by the actors involved directly in it.
