The Lakers are in trouble
It’s been a tough week for the Lakers fans. A few days ago, the team led by Frank Vogel was up 2-1 against the Phoenix Suns, while their rival, the Los Angeles Clippers, had a 0-2 deficit against the Dallas Mavericks. Oh, how the tables have turned.
In Dallas, the Clippers managed to beat the Mavs twice, while last night, the Lakers lost their second consecutive game, being close to elimination. More than that, how they lost against the Suns is shameful. Without Anthony Davis, the California-based team got destroyed by 30 points, 85-115, after another 30-point game by Devin Booker.
The Lakers had a tough season. LeBron James and Anthony Davis got hurt, they had to change a part of the roster, and all these things messed their game. Therefore, they finished in seventh place in the Western Conference.
However, the Los Angeles Lakers are reigning champions and everyone has high expectations from them. More than that, James is a favorite to win MVP every season, while Davis is considered one of the best big men in the NBA. They didn’t show up in this series.
Anthony Davis still didn’t recover completely from his injury and got schooled by Deandre Ayton. On the other side, LeBron James failed to take his leadership role seriously and had huge parts of the game where he didn’t get involved.
I’m curious to see what happens in game 6, back in Staples Center. I’m expecting a monster game from LeBron James, but it might not be enough for the Lakers.
