Weekly top 5 of shame (24-31 December)
This is our top 5 of the week:
5. BRESCIA
After missing the qualifiers for Eurocup TOP 16, Brescia had to focus on the Italian championship. They had a crucial game at home for the qualifiers in the Italian CUP, but they blow the opportunity. Brescia lost the battle with 71-95 against Dinamo Sassari.
4. MILANO
They lost after a thriller in Euroleague against Maccabi and the referees, no problem! But then, in Legabasket they were defeated by Sidigas Avellino, a team who lost Norris Cole, signed by Buducnost and the injured centers Hamady N’Diaye and Matt Costello. It’s an incredible result because now the Avellino has a very short rotation and Olimpia Milano the best bench players in Italy.
3. VENEZIA
They lost both games in the Italian championship against the underdog teams. First, at home against the newly promoted Alma Trieste with 75-83 and then on the court of Reggio Emilia, a team in the process of total reconstruction. Reggio was, before this game on the last spot of Legabasket and Venezia is still number 2 on Italy.
2. BUDUCNOST
In spite of the new additions, like Norris Cole, James Bell and Goga Bitadze, Buducnost lost both games of the week. In Euroleague, they were smashed by Bayern Munchen with 93-88. Early in the game Buducnost hat 17 points advantage but they blow the lead, allowing the opponents to come back and eventually win
1.TORINO
Your favorite team for the worst spot in Europe is Fiat Torino who in in completely chaos. First, they lost at home against Avellino with 79-96, despite having one of the largest roster in Legabasket. Avellino in very short quality rotation destroyed the host.
After the game, Torino who parted ways with coach Larry Brown, also fired Carlos Delfino for a conflict with the managers of the club. The poor results are continuing for the team, who lost again yesterday at Vanoli Cremona, with 100-87.
Don’t forget to send us your pick for the next top 5 of shame!
