What’s going on with Boston Celtics?

In the summer of 2017, Boston Celtics made two great trades, getting Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward while also drafting Jayson Tatum, a very promising young player. With all these new changes, Brad Stevens had a lot of work to do in order to get the best out of his roster. Eventually, he managed to get the team to a good place, but injuries hit. Kyrie Irving was out for the season, adding to the previous injury of Gordon Hayward, which actually happened in the first game of the last season.

However, Boston Celtics were a huge surprise as they managed to qualify to the Eastern Conference Finals, without their two best players. In the Conference Finals, they were a tough opponent for the Cleveland Cavaliers, led by LeBron James, so they lost the series in 7 games. After such a great run, everybody expected Boston Celtics to be the best team in the East in the new season, but the thing didn’t turn out this way.

Currently, the Boston Celtics are standing on the fifth position in their conference and they have a record of 25 wins and 18 losses. The team based in Massachusetts managed to win 4 consecutive games, but then they lost to Miami Heat by a margin of 16 points. Accidents happen, especially in the NBA where the teams have a crazy schedule, but this time it felt like it was more than that. Actually, a video of Marcus Morris almost fighting with Jaylen Brown got viral into the media. Then, in the next game, Boston Celtics lost to the Orlando Magic by only two points.

It was Kyrie Irving’s turn to be upset as he didn’t agree with the way of how his teammates inbounded the ball at the last play. After the game, he expressed his frustration to the media saying “The young guys don’t know what it takes to be a championship level team. What it takes every day. And if they think it is hard now, what do they think it will be like when we’re trying to get to the Finals?”, per nba.com.
