Zalgiris to lose their first game vs. Valencia Basket

Today, the no. 1 team in the standings, Zalgiris Kaunas will host Valencia Basket. The initial odds changed, making the Lithuanian team the favourite of the bookies. Probably the 4 wins in a row and the most recent accomplishment against Anadolu Efes, propelled Zalgiris in the eyes of the public. They are a great team, with the proper mentality, a strong organization also after Sarunas Jasikevicius’ departure. Probably they are the most successful basketball club on such a low budget. It is amazing what this team can achieve every season. But I doubt they will sweep Valencia Basket this time.

The Spaniards are coming after 9 days of rest since their last game because they didn’t play against Zenit Sankt-Petersburg and as well they hadn’t any game during the weekend in Liga Endesa. They had all the time in the world to prepare this game. If not now, then when?
Let’s not forget that Valencia Basket has not the best roster of their recent history and at the beginning of the season after adding Derrick Williams and Nikola Kalinic the club stated that they made exactly the signings they wanted and now the squad is complete and ready for the European glory. I see the Taronja team able to win against any opponent, no matter if we speak about CSKA, FC Barcelona, Anadolu Efes, Real Madrid and so on.
The value of the rosters cannot be compared and I don’t think the noise of the fans from Zalgirio Arena will make the difference in this encounter.
