If Olimpia Milano will win today I won’t be surprised
In the last game played in Moscow, Olimpia Milano took an astonishing win against CSKA (including Mike James). Now in the battle for 3rd place, I think the Italian squad has another chance to smash the Russians. My reasons are:
- CSKA Moscow is fighting each season for the title, the 3rd to the 4th place is the same for the Red Army. So, I don’t think they will put a huge motivation in this game. The same thing happened when they lost in Belgrade against Zalgiris Kaunas back in 2018.
- On the other hand, Olimpia Milano has a great motivation to win this “trophy”. After 29 years without being in a Final 4 they have now a great opportunity to show everybody their good level.
- Who thought they will be able to face FC Barcelona and almost win the semifinals? If they play with concentration, Olimpia Milano can beat any team. They have a good roster, perfect rotation and an experienced coach.
- Speaking about players and coach, I am sure that Ettore Messina will be very happy to defeat his former team CSKA Moscow. The same extra-motivation will have ex-CSKA players like Kyle Hines, Sergio Rodriguez, Vladimir Micov.
An interesting derby and I am curious to see how the Russians will stop Kevin Punter, Malcolm Delaney and Sergio Rodriguez, this amazing trio of guards.
