K.C. Rivers not enough against Cantu
In his last game with Reggio Emilia, K.C. Rivers showed his level. He made his best performance with the team he will leave soon to join Crvena Zvezda. But his 30 points were not enough. The problems that I revealed earlier this season are still the same: Pedro Llompart is 37 years old and Benjamin Ortner will be next month 36. Even if they are giving everything on the court, they cannot face young Americans with other speed and energy. This was proved yesterday when Cantu with 5 strong players dominated the entire game.
Reggio Emilia looked like a helpless squad in front of the hurricane. The referees were also against them, dictating many controversial offensive-fouls and other stupid calls or no-calls. In these conditions, they had no chance against Cantu. The final result (79-89) was a bit sweetened, but remember that in the last quarter Cantu had even 23 points advantage. It was a “massacre”. And now, without Rivers and maybe other players that will leave too, the things are getting worse. It is such a pity to see this great team sinking every week.
