Alexey Shved

Alexey Shved

Alexey Shved started his career in Russia by playing for the Russian powerhouse, CSKA Moscow, in 2006. After having some good seasons there, he made the biggest step of his career in 2012, when he signed with Minnesota Timberwolves. Although Minnesota was not a playoff contending team, only the fact that he went on from Russia to play in the NBA says something. In his first two seasons spent there, he averaged 6,5 PPG, 2,5 APG and 1,8 RPG, while starting in 16 of his 140 total games. In the 2014-15 season he got traded to Philadelphia, where he played only 17 games before being traded once again to the Rockets, where he played in 9. In that same season, a third trade came, as he was sent to New York to play for the Knicks, but he didn’t find his place there also, so it was time for him to go back home, in Russia, after only 3 seasons spent in the NBA. BC Khimki was the club that wanted him in his return, and the move payed off, as Shved won the MVP in the EuroCup in 2017 and the domestic League MVP in that same year. In the next season, Khimki managed to get through to the EuroLeague quarterfinals, but, unfortunately for them, they ended up facing CSKA Moscow. They got beaten 3-1, but Alexey Shved won the Top Scorer of the EuroLeague Trophy in that season. As for the achievements with his national team, Shved managed to win two bronze medals with Russia, one at the EuroBasket in 2011 and on at the 2012 Summer Olympics in a game where he scored 25 points to help his team get the W over the Argentinians.
